MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team extended its season with a late goal by Nolan Miller with 42 seconds remaining, drawing with Wisconsin 1-1 and securing a spot in the Big Ten Tournament on Sunday (Nov. 3) at McClimon Track/Soccer Complex.
Miller's goal, his second of the season, was assisted by Joao Paulo Ramos and Uriel Zeitz. Ramos recorded his third assist of the season, while Zeitz tallied his first point of 2024. Isaiah Goldson logged four saves in goal to keep the Wolverines in the match. Michigan out-shot the Badgers 14-11 and earned a season-high 10 corners.
In rainy conditions, Wisconsin (7-5-3, 2-5-3) controlled possession early, tallying four shots in the first 20 minutes, with two requiring saves from Goldson. Badger freshman Dean Boltz opened the scoring in the 33rd minute to give Wisconsin a 1-0 lead. Michigan (7-3-6, 2-3-5 Big Ten) responded with two quick shots but remained scoreless as the first half concluded with the Wolverines trailing.
Michigan increased its pressure in the second half, with Bryce Blevins and Murphy Parker each taking shots. As the match entered the final 10 minutes, the Wolverines continued to control possession and earn corner opportunities. Their persistence paid off in the last minute when Miller found the ball in a scramble in the Badgers' penalty box and scored to level the game. Michigan held firm for the remaining 42 seconds, securing its first point after trailing in a match this season.
With the tie, Michigan advances to the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals as the No. 7 seed for a matchup with the No. 2-seeded Indiana on Thursday (Nov. 7) at 1 p.m. at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill.
