Cooksey Shines at Mini Duals

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Four Wolverines competed at the University of Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Mini Duals this weekend at the Courtney Tennis Center.
Will Cooksey had the best performance in singles, winning three of his four matches. After a three-set loss to Wisconsin's Olsson, Cooksey defeated Enrique Pena of Louisville, Thomas Friesen of Holy Cross College, and Kaan Raghavendra of Indiana in straight sets.
Alex Cairo and Mert Oral each went 1-3, while Nicholas Steiglehner finished 0-4 in singles.
In doubles, Cooksey and Cairo went 2-1, starting with a 6-2 win over Wisconsin's Tomas Zlatohlavek and Olsson. After a loss to a Louisville duo, they rebounded with a 7-6 (2) victory over Indiana's Braeden Gelletich and Kaan Raghavendra.
Oral and Steiglehner paired up for doubles, earning a 6-2 win over Northwestern's Chad Miller and Lucas Coriarty.
Individual tournament play continues next week with the ITA Masters in San Diego, Calif., the ITA Sectionals in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Big Ten Individuals in Madison, Wisconsin.
