INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team received an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 9 seed in the Portland 3 Regional and will face No. 8 seed Kansas in the first round at Southern California.
The Wolverines' first-round game will be on Saturday (March 23) at 11 a.m. PDT on ESPNews.
Michigan will be making the 12th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and sixth in the last seven seasons after the 2020 tournament was not held. U-M has an 11-11 overall mark in the tourney, highlighted by the program's first-ever trip to the Elite Eight in 2022. In the last three NCAA Tournaments, Michigan is 6-3 with back-to-back Sweet 16 trips.
J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family head women's basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico will be making her 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with the first four coming at St. John's (2006, '10, '11, '12). She is 14-10 all-time in the tournament and has reached the Sweet 16 three times. KBA is the only coach in program history to guide the Wolverines to seven NCAA Tournament appearances.
