YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team fell 14-4 in seven innings at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday afternoon (March 19) at Oestrike Stadium.

Michigan (7-14) was led offensively by Mitch Voit with two hits, including a two-run home run. Seven of the nine starters reached base with four tallying hits. U-M used four pitchers, with starter Ricky Kidd (1-1) allowing seven runs, three earned, and struck out three in 3.2 innings.

Eastern Michigan (7-13) started strong with two solo home runs in the first and another in the second to take a 3-0 lead. The Wolverines were kept off the bases until the third inning, when Kyle Dernedde worked a leadoff walk.

Following the walk, Dernedde moved to third on Joe Longo's one-out single and scored when Mack Timbrook grounded out. The next batter, Voit, blasted a two-run home run -- his third of the year -- to left-center to tie the game at three.

Eastern added to its lead with four unearned runs in the bottom of the inning on two hits to go ahead 7-3 and extended it to a five-run advantage, 8-3, with a fifth-inning homer.

In the top of the sixth, Collin Priest drew a one-out walk and Bradley Navarro followed with a single. Longo plated Priest with a single of his own to take the score to 8-4. The Eagles got the run back in the bottom of the frame and the score sat at 9-4 after six innings.

U-M loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the seventh, but was unable to push a run home. EMU put the game away, scoring five times in the bottom half three singles and a pair of doubles to put its lead at 14-4 and invoking the 10-run rule.

The Wolverines will start conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Penn State starting Friday (March 22). First pitch from Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on B1G+.
