
Four Wolverines Earn Big Ten Conference Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team had four gymnasts named to the Big Ten Conference teams as announced by the conference office Wednesday (March 20).
The Wolverines had three first-team selections as Carly Bauman, Sierra Brooks and Gabby Wilson all earned first-team honors and Reyna Guggino was named to the second team. The honor is the fifth for both Brooks and Wilson and the first for Bauman on the first team as she earned second-team honors in 2023. Guggino was recognized as a second-team honoree for the second straight season.
Bauman earns her first first-team nod after competing on the uneven bars, beam and floor for the Wolverines in her senior campaign. The West Des Moines, Iowa native won three uneven bars titles and had six scores of 9.900 or higher while recording five beam scores of 9.900 or better and four floor scores of 9.900 or better. Heading into the postseason, Bauman ranks 23rd on the uneven bars nationally, while ranking second in the Big Ten on bars, sixth on beam and 16th on floor.
Brooks is just the second Wolverines in Michigan history to earn first-team honors five times in her career as she returned for her fifth year of eligibility. The Plainfield, Ill. native was named the B1G Gymnast of the Week seven times and earned 22 event titles in the 2024 season. Brooks recorded 28 scores of 9.900 or better in her final season and had one perfect 10.0 on the floor, while also scoring six 9.975s. The graduate student currently ranks seventh nationally in the all-around, fifth on the floor, 12th on the beam, 15th on the uneven bars and 27th on the vault, while leading the conference in the all-around, uneven bars and beam and ranking third on the floor and fifth on the vault.
Wilson joins Brooks in earning first-team honors on five occasions, making her the third Wolverine to do so. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native won six event titles in the 2024 season and recorded three perfect 10.0s on the floor, while being named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on two occasions and an AAI Award Finalist. Wilson recorded 19 scores of 9.900 or highers and heads into the postseason ranked third nationally on the floor and 17th in the all-around, while rankings second on the floor and all-around in the conference, sixth on beam, 10th on vault and 16th on the uneven bars.
Guggino earns her second-straight second-team honor after earning the honor in her junior campaign. This season, Guggino competed on vault, beam and floor for the Maize and Blue and took home four vault titles including in back-to-back weeks to close out the regular season, earning herself two Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors. The Tampa, Fla. native tied a career-best 9.875 on the beam twice and also tied a career-best 9.925 on the floor twice. Guggino ranks fourth in the Big Ten on the vault and 25th nationally, while ranking 16th on the floor in the conference.
The honorees and the rest of the U-M squad travel to East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday (March 23) to compete for its 28th Big Ten championship. Michigan's session of the championship event is set to start at 5:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
