MANHEIM, Pa. -- Five members of the University of Michigan wrestling team were named to the Division I Scholar All-America Team, as announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) on Friday (March 29). The NWCA's individual list included 338 total wrestlers from 78 institutions.
Fifth-year senior Cameron Amine, graduate student Lucas Davison, graduate student Shane Griffith, junior/sophomore Zack Mattin and senior/junior Dylan Ragusin all were named to the individual team. U-M was one of six Big Ten schools with five or more honorees.
Griffith, a three-time CSC/CoSIDA Academic All-American, is now a five-time NWCA honoree, previously earning the distinction four times while at Stanford. Davison earned his fourth straight NWCA honoree after joining the Wolverines this season from Northwestern. Griffith and Davison are both students in U-M's graduate real estate program.
Amine, a sport management major, was also named a Scholar All-American for the fourth consecutive year, while Ragusin earned the distinction for the second time in his career -- and first since his freshman season -- as a communication and media major.
Mattin collects his first NWCA Scholar All-America honor after previously garnering Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar laurels. The Wolverine team's GPA leader over the last three seasons, Mattin maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in biology, health and society.
The Wolverines wrapped the 2023-24 season with 8-4 dual-meet record, placed second at the Big Ten Championships and third at the NCAA Championships -- the program's second trophy finish in three seasons -- with four All-Americans.
