
Columbus Signs Brindley to Entry-Level Contract

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets announced they have signed University of Michigan ice hockey sophomore forward Gavin Brindley on Monday (April 15). The three-year entry-level contract begins this season and Brindley is expected to make his NHL debut tomorrow as Columbus closes out its home slate at Nationwide Arena.
The Big Ten Player of the Year, Brindley finished the season with 53 points in 40 games, averaging 1.33 points per game. His 53 points is the eighth most in the NCAA and his 29 points in conference games was the best in the league as he captured the Big Ten scoring crown. A 2023 draft pick of Columbus, Brindley had points in 28 games and 16 multiple-point games this season. A first-team All-Big Ten selection, Brindley was also named to the Big Ten All-Tournament and NCAA All-Regional teams.
As a freshman, Brindley was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and set the tournament record for most assists in a single B1G Tournament.
A native of Estero, Fla., Brindley finishes his collegiate career with 37 goals and 54 assists for 91 points in 81 games. He tallied five game-winning goals, seven power-play goals and finished a +38.
