
Brooks Named WCGA Regional Gymnast of the Year for Fourth Time

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- University of Michigan graduate student Sierra Brooks was named the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Regional Gymnast of the Year on Wednesday (April 3).
Brooks shares the honor with Penn State's Ava Piedrahita.
The honor is the fourth of Brooks' career, making her the only Wolverine to earn the honor on four occasions; she also earned the award in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
Brooks returned for her fifth year in Ann Arbor and leads the region in the all-around, on vault, uneven bars and balance beam and ranks second to teammate Gabby Wilson on floor exercise.
Most recently, Brooks was named a first team WCGA Regular Season All-American on floor, while earning second-team honors on vault, uneven bars, beam and all-around brining her career total to 15 Regular Season All-American citations.
Brooks also was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Year on March 22, earning that award for the third time in her career making her just the fourth gymnast in Big Ten history to earn the honor on three occasions. She was the Big Ten vault co-champion on the vault while winning outright championships on uneven bars and floor exercise to bring her career total to five individual Big Ten championship titles.
Brooks is just the second gymnast in program history to earn All-Big Ten first team honors five times in her career. The Plainfield, Ill., native was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week seven times and earned 25 event titles this season. Also this season, she recorded 31 scores of 9.900 or better with one perfect 10 on floor to go with seven 9.975s.
Brooks ranks ninth nationally in the all-around, seventh on floor, 13th on beam and vault and 15th on uneven bars. She also leads the conference in the all-around, uneven bars and beam and ranks third on floor and vault.
Outside of the gym, Brooks is pursuing her master's in business analytics after earning her Bachelor of Business Administration from the Ross School of Business in 2023.
