
U-M Trio Headed to Fort Worth for NCAA Individual Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team will send three gymnasts -- graduate students Sierra Brooks and Gabby Wilson and senior Carly Bauman -- to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the NCAA Championships Thursday (April 18) at 8 p.m. CT to vie for individual national titles.
Wilson will compete in the all-around after finishing second in the Ann Arbor Region and winning the vault title, while Brooks will compete on floor and vault and Bauman will compete on uneven bars as the duo finished second in the Ann Arbor region on the respective events.
Wilson recorded a 39.575 on the floor with a 9.950 on the vault, which was good for a share of the regional title, and a 9.925 on the floor, tying with Brooks. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native, also scored a 9.900 on the uneven bars to tie for seventh overall. This season, Wilson won nine individual titles that included three perfect 10.0s on the floor. Wilson ranks 18th nationally in the all-around and heads to Texas as the No. 4 ranked gymnast in the country on floor.
Brooks will compete on the vault and the floor after matching 9.925s on the events in the Ann Arbor region. The Plainfield, Ill., native, won nine titles between the two events in the 2024 campaign with four vault titles and five floor titles, including one perfect 10.0 on the floor and three 9.975s on both the vault and floor. Brooks will travel to Texas ranked seventh nationally on the floor and 13th on the vault.Â
Bauman will compete on the uneven bars after scoring a 9.950 in regionals. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native, won three uneven bars titles in the 2024 campaign and tied a career-best 9.950 on three occasions. Bauman ranks 24th nationally in the event.
Wilson will rotate with Oklahoma and start on vault, while Brooks and Bauman will both rotate with Alabama. Bauman will go first in the first rotation on the uneven bars and Brooks will go on floor in the third rotation and vault in the fourth rotation.
