WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- University of Michigan men's golfer Hunter Thomson posted a one-over 73 today (Monday, May 13) and is tied for 23rd after the first round of the NCAA West Lafayette Regional at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, Kampen Course.
In his first NCAA postseason event, the junior opened his regional with a birdie to quickly move into the red. Rattling off seven straight pars, he notched a bogey to make the turn at even par. With a second run of seven consecutive pars, a second bogey on the par 3, 17th hole pushed Thomson to one-over where he stayed following his round-ending par. With a 73 (+1), he is tied for 23rd.
Thomson, one of 10 invited individuals, will be paired with Tennessee Tech's Haden Maxwell and Valpo's Caleb VanArragon for the second round starting at 9:53 a.m. off the No. 1 tee.
