
McFarland Leads Four Wolverines Earning Podium Finishes at USATF U20 Championships

EUGENE, Ore. -- Five University of Michigan men's track and field student-athletes represented the Maize and Blue at the USATF U20 Championships on Wednesday and Thursday (June 12-13), with four earning podium finishes at Hayward Field.
Freshman and Big Ten champion Trent McFarland took home gold in the 1,500-meter run (3:47.39), while Aiden Sullivan placed sixth (3:48.28). With a time below 3:48.00, McFarland qualified for the World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, on Aug. 27-31.
U-M went 2-3 in the 5,000-meter run, with Nathan Lopez finishing second (14:09.51) and Nolan Clark finishing third (14:20.94).
Kepler Huntress was the final Wolverine to compete, finishing 18th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.04.
