
Plocki Signs Diaz to 2025 Roster with National Letter of Intent

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics head coach Bev Plocki announced Monday (June 24) the signing of Sophia Diaz to a National Letter of Intent. Diaz, a commit to the class of 2025, has signed her letter of intent a year early and will join the Wolverines for the 2025 campaign.
"We are beyond excited to announce the addition of Sophia Diaz to our already amazing class of incoming freshmen," said Plocki. "She is a two-time national all-around champion scoring a perfect 10.0 on vault to clinch that event title as well. Sophia has an extensive impressive list of accolades and will bring big performances to our lineups!"

• Competed at Hill's Gymnastics where she recorded the highest point total in every event and in the all-around in Hill's Level 10 history
• Has been a member of the Level 10 Women's Development Program National Team for three seasons
• Is a two-time national champion in the all-around (2023, 2024)
• Won the vault national championship with a perfect 10.0 in 2024
• Earned the silver medal at the national championships on uneven bars and beam and is a two-time floor exercise bronze medalist
• Was the bronze medalist on the balance beam and placed fourth in the all-around at the 2022 national championship
• Captured three straight Level 10 regional titles in the all-around as well as on beam and floor
• Earned two straight Level 10 regional titles on uneven bars and one on vault, while also being a two-time vault silver medalist
• Is a three-time Level 10 Maryland state champion on vault, a two-time state champion in the all-around and on the uneven bars as well as a state champion on floor in 2024 and beam in 2022
• Was a silver medalist at the Level 10 Maryland state championships on uneven bars in 2022 and beam in 2023, while capturing a bronze medal on floor in 2022
• Qualified for the Nastia Liukin Cup in 2024
• Named to the Region 7 All-Star team three times
• Earned the Region 7 Level 9 all-around championship in 2021 and was the silver medalist on vault, uneven bars and beam
• Was the Level 9 Eastern all-around and vault champion and took home the silver medal on beam in 2021
• Prepped at River Hill High School where she earned the Scholar-Athlete Award and was the Cheerleading Athlete of the Month
