COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- University of Michigan sophomore Abby Burnett has been named to USA Field Hockey's 2024-25 Senior U.S. Women's National Indoor Team, the organization announced on Wednesday (June 26).
The selection of the 11-member squad followed an in-person tryout held earlier this month. Burnett was one of seven selections to the senior-level team that captured gold at the 2024 Indoor Pan American Cup (IPAC) in March in Calgary, Canada.
The USA defended its IPAC title for the third time in a row with a shootout victory over Argentina in the final and punched its ticket to the 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup (IHWC), scheduled for Feb. 3-9 in Porec, Croatia. The senior indoor squad will participate in the RohrMax Cup from Dec. 30-Jan. 6 in Vienna, Austria before the IHWC.
Burnett previously played with the USA Indoor Team at the 2023 FIH Hockey Indoor Women's World Cup in South Africa and contributed to a ninth-place finish.
She has also played with the USA Women's Hockey5s National Team, contributing to a gold medal at the first-ever Hockey5s Pan American Cups (PAC) last June and, more recently, helping capture the Challenger Trophy at the 2024 FIH Hockey5s World Cup last month. Burnett was named Player of the Match in the Challenger Trophy match against Namibia, scoring a goal in a 2-0 USA win.
Burnett was named to the All-Big Ten second team as a rookie last season after starting all 17 games in the midfield for the Wolverines.
