ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Tom Brady of the University of Michigan men's track and field has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America first team, the organization announced Wednesday (July 10).
Brady, a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in management, holds a 3.75 grade-point average and is a 2023 first team Academic All-American. He was named to the CSC Academic All-District team last month.
On the track, Brady capped his stellar career for the Maize and Blue with a Big Ten title, two program records, and three All-America honors in the 2023-24 season. During the cross country season, the Park Ridge, Ill., native finished third at the Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Great Lakes Region before finishing 27th at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors. He was also named a USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic Athlete.
Brady set the program indoor 5,000-meter run record (13:24.16) and the outdoor 10,000-meter run record (28:21.89), capturing his second straight outdoor 10,000-meter run Big Ten title. At the NCAA Championships, Brady finished in 16th place in the indoor 5,000-meter run and 15th in the outdoor 10,000-meter run. He earned second team All-America nods for both performances.
Of the 17 first-team members, 12 student-athletes -- including Brady -- earned Academic All-America honors for the second straight year.
To be named to the Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, own a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, rank in the top 50 regionally in at least one event and should be at least an All-Region caliber performer.
