
Brooks Named CSC Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas -- Graduate student Sierra Brooks of the University of Michigan women's gymnastics team was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America first team, the organization announced Tuesday (July 16).
The honor is the first of Brooks' career after being named CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2022 and CSC All-District in 2023.
Brooks closed out her illustrious career with a second-place finish on floor exercise at nationals to bring her career total to eight first team All-America citations. The Plainfield, Ill., native is a 15-time regular season All-American, a four-time individual regional champion, a four-time Regional Gymnast of the Year, a three-time Big Ten Gymnast of the Year and a five-time first team All-Big Ten honoree. She also wom the 2023 AAI Award and was the 2023 female recipient of the Big Ten Medal of Honor and the 2023 Michigan Female Athlete of the Year.
In the 2024 season, Brooks won 23 event titles and had one perfect 10.0 on floor and eight 9.975s. Brooks broke the Michigan school record in the all-around in her final season, scoring a 39.850 against Stanford.
Outside of the gym, Brooks was the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was an outstanding student-athlete, earning her undergraduate degree in business administration from the Ross School of Business and her master's in business analytics. Brooks is a three-time WCGA Academic All-America honoree, a COSIDA Academic All-District honoree, a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She also has received the Leaders and Best Award and the Bates Deskins Award for most outstanding student-athlete in her class as a sophomore and junior.
