
Michigan Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The University of Michigan baseball team earned the United States American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award for the first time in program history, the organization announced Wednesday (July 24).
The award was instituted in the 2015-16 academic year to honor baseball teams that maintain a yearlong grade-point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. A total of 129 Division One programs earned the award this year.
The Wolverines placed 14 student-athletes on the Spring Academic All-Big Ten list with three members of the team earning Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors this spring for recording a GPA above 3.7 for the school year. Chase Allen, Jacob Denner, Kyle Dernedde, Mack Timbrook and Stephen Hrustich were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
