Water Polo
Australia got its Olympic water polo campaign off to a winning start with a 7-5 triumph over China. Former Wolverine Abby Andrews led the way for the Stingers on the offensive end of the pool with three goals in 23 minutes of action. » Full update
Swimming
Swimming kicked off on at Paris La Defense Arena with seven current and former Wolverines in action. Among the highlights, Michigan alumnus Maggie MacNeil punched her ticket to Sunday's (July 28) 100-meter butterfly final by finishing in a tie for fourth in the semifinal. » Full update
Men's Gymnastics
Paul Juda and Fred Richard will head to the men's gymnastics team finals on Monday, July 29, at 11:30 a.m. ET, with Team USA finishing fifth (253.229 points) in the qualifying round on Saturday (July 27). The pair will also compete in the all-around finals on Wednesday, July 31, at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Senior Lais Najjar (Syria) and former Wolverine Kevin Penev (Bulgaria) also competed in the qualifying round, with Najjar competing in four events and Penev competing in all six. » Full update
Field Hockey
The United States fell to Pool B's top-seeded Argentina, 4-1, in its first game of the Paris Olympics. Team USA narrowed the deficit to 2-1 early in the third quarter and controlled play for large swaths of the game but was doomed by Argentina's quick strike and deadly corner drag flick. Men's Basketball
Germany opened Group B play with a 97-77 win over Japan. Franz Wagner paced the Germans with a game-high 22 points while adding six rebounds. Moritz Wagner came off the bench with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. » Full update
