Eastern Michigan (2-2) took the first point of the match, but it was all U-M after the Eagles tied it at three. A 4-0 run led by a pair of aces from Vaulet gave U-M a 7-3 lead, while another strong run forced an EMU timeout at 12-6. The Eagles won three of the next four points, but Michigan then went on a 6-2 run led by two kills from Boney to force another EMU timeout. After a 2-2 score, Michigan ran away with the second set much like the first. A 7-2 Wolverines run led by Trixie McMillin from the service line put U-M up 9-4. After a block from Serena Nyambio and Burke, EMU took a timeout. A setter kill from Burke reopened the match out of the timeout and the teams traded points until the Wolverines reached the 20-point threshold on a Vaulet ace. Jacobs aced the Eagles to put Michigan up 23-11 before an ace from Maddi Cuchran gave the Wolverines the second-set win 25-13.
The third set was more of the same from Michigan. After the teams split the first four points, U-M took an 8-4 lead behind three kills from Jacobs that forced an EMU timeout. The Eagles were able to bring the score to 10-7, but a 4-0 run from the Wolverines put Michigan back comfortably ahead. Back-to-back kills from Jacobs increased the U-M lead to 18-10 and forced the final EMU timeout of the set. Eastern tried to stay in the match and brought the score to 24-20 but Vaulet finished off the match with a kill for a 25-20 set win to win the match.
