
Maize and Blue to Hit the Road for Crossroads of America Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will hit the road to Indianapolis, Ind., for the Crossroads of America Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 24-25) at Fall Creek Pavillion. On Friday (Jan. 24), field events will begin at 5 p.m. with track events kicking off at 6 p.m. On Sunday (Jan. 25), field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., and track events are slated for 11:45 a.m.
Notes
• Michigan is coming off a first-place finish at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational on Jan. 18, scoring 126 points to top Michigan State (109) and Purdue (49).
• Elizabeth Tapper set the program shot put record for the second straight meet, throwing for 16.99 meters (55 feet, 9 inches) for the win. The mark is No. 14 in the NCAA and No. 6 in the Big Ten.
• Senior Savannah Sutherland made her season debut at the Simmons-Harvey Invite and broke the program 200-meter dash record (23.49 seconds) she previously set in 2023 (23.51). The time is No. 12 in the nation and No. 1 in the league.
• Thrower Abigail Russell continues to have an impressive freshman season, posting personal bests in the shot put (15.85m/52-0) and the weight throw (18.93m/62-1.25). Both marks make the top 10 on the program performers list, with her shot put mark coming in at No. 8 and her weight throw mark tying for No. 6.
• Payton Smith sits at No. 10 on the program performers list after running a 54.40 to win the 400-meter dash last weekend. Aasia Laurencin ran a personal-best 7.48 in both the preliminaries and finals of the 60-meter dash for the win, the No. 8 mark on the program performers list.
• In the 3,000-meter run, Mary Caroline Heinen ran 9:31.27 to finish first while Anjali Hocker Singh finished fourth with time of 9:45.55. Amare Harlan (5.90m/19-4.25) earned a first-place finish in the long jump and Maya Anderson (5.73m/18-9.75) finished second. All four Wolverines logged personal bests.
• The 4x400-meter relay team of Harlan, Sidney Green, Smith, and Sutherland ran a season-best 3:35.46, the fourth fastest time in program history.
