Notes
• The Wolverines are 1-1 in Big Ten Conference play after suffering a narrow 1-0 loss at No. 10 Maryland last Friday (Sept. 26).
• Michigan wrapped the non-conference portion of its 2025 schedule with a 5-2 record, including a 4-1 decision at Old Dominion last Sunday (Sept. 28).
• Michigan ranks 11th nationally with a 2.11 scoring margin and 10th with a 3.33 goals-per-game average. The Wolverines also share the seventh spot nationally with three shutouts.
• Twelve different Wolverines have scored at least one goal through seven games this season, just two shy of the 14-player total that scored last season. Fifth-year senior Emmy Tran is the latest to join the scoring ranks this season with two markers -- in the second and fourth quarters -- in U-M's Big Ten opener against Michigan State (Sept. 19).
• Junior Juliette Manzur leads the Wolverines in scoring with 13 points on four goals and five assists. Her point total is already a career high -- she previously posted 11 points in the last two seasons -- while she has matched her career high in assists as one of Michigan's primary inserters on the penalty corner. She is also just one goal shy of her career best.
• Graduate Abby Tamer is the Wolverines' leading goal scorer with five markers through nine games. Tamer, 2024 First Team All-American, led U-M in scoring last season with 12 goals, 14 assists and 38 points. Among her goal total this season is a pair of game-winning tallies -- against Wake Forest (Aug. 31) and Stanford (Sept. 14) -- in the final 30 seconds of the fourth quarter.
• Michigan has outscored opponents, 21-5, in the second half this season and, 12-2, in the fourth quarter. Last season, U-M outscored its opposition, 15-4, in the fourth quarter.
• Junior/sophomore goalkeeper Hala Silverstein and graduate student Caylie McMahon have combined for three shutout wins -- 13-0 vs. Bellarmine (Sept. 7), 2-0 at UC Davis (Sept. 12) and 5-0 vs. MSU. Michigan carries a 1.24 goals-against average, while its defensive corps has allowed just 8.4 shots and 2.78 corners per game so far this season.
• Michigan has held opponents to just two goals off penalty corners this season -- one apiece against North Carolina and Stanford -- and a scant conversion rate of 5.5 percent (2/36).
• Penn State is 5-4 on the season and 1-1 in Big Ten play after suffering a 3-1 loss to No. 10 Maryland on Sept. 19 and picking up a 2-0 win against Michigan State last Friday (Sept. 26). Josephine Purdy leads the Nittany Lions with a team-leading four goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Aby Deverka carries a 1.96 goals-against-average and a .604 save percentage. Michigan trails PSU in the all-time series, 26-31, but is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. Michigan took last season's matchup in commanding fashion, defeating the Nittany Lions, 6-0, on the road.
• Rutgers enters the weekend 6-4 with a 1-0 record in Big Ten play after securing a 2-1 overtime victory against Ohio State at home last Friday (Sept. 26) -- as well as an 8-0 victory over Columbia in its most recent outing last Sunday (Sept. 28). Olivia Fraticelli leads the Scarlet Knights with five goals and two assists over the team's 10 games, while goalkeeper Emily Nicholls owns a 1.34 goals-against-average and .840 save percentage.
