ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team bounced back with a 6-0 win over Chicago State on Wednesday (Oct. 1) at U-M Soccer Stadium.
The Wolverines controlled the game from start to finish, scoring six goals, launching 31 shots and allowing just two shots from the opposition. The goal total is the most in a match by a U-M squad since Nov. 26, 2003, in a defeat of Saint Peter's. The shot tally is the most for Michigan since Nov. 21, 2010, in a win over UCF.
Six different players scored for the Maize and Blue. Quin Rogers netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season from the penalty spot, while Kyle Pierson tallied his third of the year. Grayson Elmquist, Nolan Miller, Michael Ramirez and Joao Paulo Ramos each added a goal to raise their season totals to two apiece.
Five Wolverines recorded assists, with Dylan Davis leading the way with two helpers on the evening. Nicholas Cassiday, Matthew Fisher, Mitar Mitrovic and Shuma Sasaki each added assists in the win.
Michigan (6-1-2) opened the scoring in the 11th minute as Fisher and Mitrovic connected to find Ramirez in the box, who headed the ball home to put U-M in front, 1-0. Duilio Herrera drew a foul in the penalty box, and Rogers converted the chance to double the lead, 2-0. Ramos then ripped a rocket from just inside the box off a feed from Sasaki to give U-M its third goal of the first half, the second time the Wolverines have scored three in a period in 2025.
The onslaught continued in the second half as Cassiday controlled a corner and found Miller at the doorstep, who tucked the ball away to make it 4-0. Davis played a role in the final two scores, streaking down the right side and finding Elmquist and Pierson in the middle, both of whom converted to give Michigan its fifth and sixth goals, its highest total in over two decades.
Chicago State (1-8-0) managed only two shots in the contest, both off target, as Michigan dominated possession throughout.
Next up, Michigan will jump back into Big Ten play when it welcomes Rutgers to a sold-out U-M Soccer Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 5) for Pups at the Pitch.
