SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team earned its first two wins of the season on Friday (Oct. 10), defeating Notre Dame, 218-82, and outlasting No. 15 Wisconsin, 155-145, inside Rolfs Aquatic Center.
Michigan (2-0, 1-0 Big Ten) got off to a strong start as the quartet of Lexi Greenhawt, Devon Kitchel, Brady Kendall and Stephanie Balduccini powered the Maize and Blue to a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.29.
Balduccini scored her first individual win of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a mark of 1:47.40 in her first race in the event since placing third at the NCAA Championships in March.
Hannah Bellard made her presence felt in the 200-yard butterfly, winning with a mark of 1:56.37, nearly three seconds ahead of the next-closest swimmer.
Kendall took care of business in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a 22.46, while Balduccini followed with a win in the 100-yard freestyle at 49.73.
Anna Boemer tallied a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (53.60), and Bellard claimed the top spot in the 200-yard IM (1:59.99).
U-M closed out the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Balduccini, Leila Fack, Kendall and Ella Jo Piersma combined for a time of 3:16.85.
Next up, Michigan returns to Ann Arbor to host Northwestern and UCLA on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 12 p.m. inside Canham Natatorium.
