
Michigan Handles UCLA in Front of Sold-Out Home Crowd

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team defeated UCLA 3-0 on Friday (Oct. 17) in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,172 fans at U-M Soccer Stadium.
After a three-point game at Ohio State, sophomore Michael Ramirez followed up with his first career two-goal match to up his season total to five in his first year with Michigan.
Quin Rogers scored his fifth goal of the season, his fourth by way of a penalty kick, to make it 10 points on the season for the graduate student.
Isaiah Goldson made two clutch saves to keep the Bruins off the scoreboard and earn his sixth clean sheet of the 2025 season.
Michigan (8-2-3, 4-2-1 Big Ten) started fast with two shots within the first four minutes of the contest.
The Wolverines found their first goal of the match in the 22nd minute as Will Baker and Nicholas Cassiday combined to find Ramirez at the top of the box, and he drove his left foot through the ball, powering it into the bottom corner of the net to make 1-0 Michigan.
Ramirez scored his second of the match in the 39th minute when Dylan Davis found him with a cross at the back post, and Ramirez calmly headed the ball into the open net for a 2-0 Maize and Blue lead.
Rogers put the game away in the 72nd minute. He found the bottom-right corner of the net on the penalty kick as Michigan soared to a 3-0 advantage that it held through the final 18 minutes of action.
Next up, Michigan will host Northwestern for a conference matchup next Friday (Oct. 24) at 7 p.m. at U-M Soccer Stadium.
