HOLLAND, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's tennis seniors Nicholas Steiglehner and Bjorn Swenson won the 2025 Hope College RSM D1 Dominant Duo Invitational on Sunday (Oct. 5) at the DeWitt Tennis Center.
Steiglehner and Swenson went undefeated in doubles with a 4-0 record, and when facing those same doubles pairs in singles play, they lost just one of eight matches. Opening the tournament, the pair knocked off Owen Megargee/Jacob Golden (Northwestern) 6-2 before Swenson topped Megargree 6-1, 6-3, and Steiglehner took matching 6-4 sets off of Golden.
Notre Dame's Peter Nad and Luis Llorens Saracho were dispatched next in a 6-3 doubles decision on Saturday (Oct 4) morning. Swenson and Steiglehner battled in singles, winning both in the 10-point tiebreak set. In the nightcap, the pair took down Adam Jilly and Sasha Colleu of Illinois 6-4. Steiglehner followed with a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7 win over Colleau, while Jilly ended Swenson's win streak.Â
Sunday's final pitted Swenson and Steiglehner against fellow Wolverines senior Mert Oral and freshman Arnav Bhandari. After a 6-1 win, Swenson defeated Oral 6-4, 6-2 and Steiglehner recorded matching 6-1 sets over Bhandari.
Oral and Bhandari finished doubles play 2-2, with Bhandari going 3-1 in singles while Oral went 1-3.
The Wolverines will be back in action on Oct. 10 when the ITA Midwest Regional Championships get underway in East Lansing, Mich.
