ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team closed its 2025 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Illinois on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 26) at U-M Soccer Stadium, falling just short of a Big Ten Tournament berth.
Michigan (6-8-4, 3-4-4 Big Ten) outshot Illinois (12-4-2, 5-4-2 Big Ten) 17-7, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal, and led for 30 minutes of the second half before the Illini netted the equalizer with six minutes remaining.
The Wolverines broke through in the 53rd minute when senior captain Jenna Lang found the back of the net off a setup from Kali Burrell, marking Lang's 14th career goal.
Michigan dictated the tempo in a scoreless first half, carrying a 6-3 shot advantage into the break before nearly doubling its total in the second stanza. Sophomore Elle Ervin led all players with five shots, including two on target.
After conceding late, the Wolverines continued to press for a game-winner, earning three free kicks and a corner in the final 30 seconds. Despite the late surge, U-M was unable to convert, officially closing the 2025 season.
