INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team received an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 6 seed in the Birmingham 3 Regional and will face either No. 11 seed Princeton or Iowa State in the first round at host site Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
The first round game is set for Friday, March 21, at 11:30 a.m., and it will air on ESPN2.
Michigan will be making its 13th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and seventh in the last eight seasons after the 2020 tournament was not held. U-M has an 11-12 overall record in the tournament, highlighted by the program's first-ever trip to the Elite Eight in 2022.
J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Women's Basketball Coach Kim Barnes Arico will be making her 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with the first four coming at St. John's (2006, '10, '11, '12). She holds a 14-11 all-time record in the tournament and has reached the Sweet 16 three times. Barnes Arico is the only coach in program history to guide the Wolverines to eight NCAA Tournament appearances.
Michigan completed the regular season with a 22-10 record, making the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament for the second straight season. U-M's 22 wins are the fifth-most in program history after returning just one starter from a season ago. The Wolverines feature a pair of All-Big Ten second-teamers in Olivia Olson and Syla Swords, who also each earned All-Freshman honors from the conference.
