ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan volleyball head coach Erin Virtue announced Friday (Aug. 15) that graduate students Maddi Cuchran and Allison Jacobs and senior Serena Nyambio will serve on the team's leadership committee for the 2025 season.
Jacobs and Nyambio served on the leadership committee last fall with Jacque Boney. Cuchran, Jacobs and Nyambio were chosen as leaders for the spring season before being selected again by their teammates and coaches ahead of the 2025 fall campaign.
Having started all 31 matches last season as the team's libero, Cuchran is back for her fifth season. In 2024, she led the team with 454 digs, averaging 3.88 per set, and played in all 29 matches in 2023. Over her career, she has played in 226 sets across 66 matches, averaging 2.99 digs per set with 31 aces.
Entering her sixth collegiate season, Jacobs led the Wolverines with 335 kills last season on a .243 hitting percentage and was fourth on the team in digs with 186. She tallied double-digit kills in 19 of the first 20 matches before she suffered an injury. Over her four playing seasons in college -- two at UCLA and two at U-M -- Jacobs has tallied 637 career kills on a .212 hitting percentage with 438 digs, 98 blocks and 717 points.
Middle blocker Nyambio played in 30 of 31 matches last season and has played in 82 over her three-year career. Last season, she totaled 14 solo blocks and 100 block assists for 114 total blocks for a 1.00 blocks-per-set average. Nyambio also tallied 203 kills on a .331 hitting percentage and averaged 1.78 kills per set. Over her three seasons, she has totaled 446 kills, 102 digs and 264 blocks for a total of 596.5 points.
Michigan will kick off its 2025 campaign in Cincinnati, playing Wake Forest and Cincinnati on Aug. 30-31 before returning home to host Eastern Michigan in their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at Crisler Center, the first of 12 home matches at Crisler and 16 overall at home. Tickets for the full home season are now on sale.
