ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team dominated Detroit Mercy 4-0 on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 17) at U-M Soccer Stadium. Five different Wolverines registered a point, led by junior Gabrielle Prych, who had four on a pair of goals, and three from sophomore Adi Walick, all coming on assists.
Walick's trio of helpers ties her for the single-game program record. She becomes the fifth Wolverine to reach the milestone, with Brooke Cilley the last on Aug. 20, 2017, against Idaho State.
U-M never trailed and controlled the pace throughout, outshooting the visitors 15-3 with 10 shots on target to UDM's one. Michigan (2-0) totaled 18 points as a team while limiting the Titans (1-1) to just three shots, good for the most points and fewest shots allowed in a single game since Sept. 4, 2022.
Sophomore Ella Jablinskey also netted her first career goal in the win, and junior Campbell Jewell added an assist for the second consecutive game.
The Wolverines totaled six shots on goal, including Prych's first score, before the Titans registered their first shot of the game just before half.
Prych earned the brace, her first career multi-goal performance, just five minutes into the second stanza when she deposited a free kick from Walick over the goalkeeper's outstretched gloves. Jablinskey added to the lead three minutes later, guiding a header just inside the bottom-right post on a Walick corner kick.
U-M's offensive onslaught continued deep into the second half with quality chances provided to Abby Zugay and Josie Owen-Kren, but both shots narrowly missed the back of the net.
At the 70-minute mark, Michigan put the final touches on the victory when Kali Burrell fed a pass to a streaking Elle Ervin, who rocketed her second goal in as many games past the keeper.
With the victory, the Wolverines are 2-0 to start the season and have defeated Detroit Mercy in its past five outings, boasting a perfect 8-0 record against the Titans in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines kick off a three-game road trip starting Thursday (Aug. 21) with a trip to Alabama. The midweek fixture is slated for a 7 p.m. CT start time, and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
