Wolverines Add All-American Greenwood to Coaching Staff

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan softball head coach Bonnie Tholl announced Tuesday (Sept. 2) the addition of Carmyn Greenwood to the 2025 coaching staff as an assistant coach. An NFCA All-American while at Louisville, Greenwood spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky.
"We are thrilled to welcome Carmyn to Michigan, a coach whose energy is contagious and whose experience brings invaluable insight to our team," said Tholl. "Her passion for the game and commitment to player development will make a powerful impact both on and off of the field. Carmyn is ready and excited to help elevate Michigan softball."
"I'm very excited to be a part of this Michigan program -- one with so much great tradition and history -- and the culture we have here," said Greenwood. "I'm also excited to work with this coaching staff and want to thank Bonnie for the opportunity. Everyone has been welcoming, the girls are great, and I'm looking forward to continue building on the success from the last couple of seasons."
Greenwood joins the Wolverines' coaching staff after spending two years as an assistant coach with Western Kentucky, where she worked with the Hilltoppers' hitters. In 2024, WKU led Conference USA in hitting and boasted seven all-conference and four all-region honors en route to its runner-up finish at the conference tournament. Greenwood also led numerous softball camps at Louisville and Auburn and coached travel softball on the 14U and 18U levels.
A native of Birmingham, Ala., Greenwood boasted a standout college career at Louisville (2020-22) and Auburn (2017-19). She earned NFCA All-America third-team honors in her final season and was twice named to the All-Southeast Region first team (2021, '22) and All-ACC first team (2022) and second team (2021).
In her All-America senior season, Greenwood led the Cardinals with a .400 batting average as Louisville's leadoff hitter and paced the ACC with seven triples and ranked among the league's leaders with 70 hits, 54 runs, 52 RBI and a 1.279 OPS. She also posted a career-high 14 home runs, including two grand slams, and 18 doubles with 23 multi-hit and 14 multiple-RBI games.
Greenwood batted .400 or better in her final two collegiate seasons, including a .430 average in 2021, and still holds the Louisville program record with a .408 career batting average over her three seasons with the Cardinals, ranks second with a .657 slugging percentage and fourth with a .453 on-base percentage. She started 120 games in the left field -- all but one game over her tenure in Louisville.
After her college graduation, Greenwood continued her competitive career with the professional Florida Vibe, currently of the Association of Fastpitch Professionals (AFP) league. She concluded her fourth season in summer 2025, batting over .450 over her four years, and is among the longest-tenured players in the Vibe's young history. In 2024, she helped lead the team to a runner-up finish in the AFP championship.
