ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's swimming and diving program joined Calvin, Hope and Purdue to honor the memory of Ian Miskelley, hosting the TEAM BE BETTER; Invitational to lift the curtain on the 2025-26 season on Friday (Sept. 26) at Canham Natatorium.
Colin Geer kicked off his junior season with a win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.09 seconds. Eitan Ben-Shitrit and Tyler Ray finished first and second in the 100-yard backstoke with times of 48.97 and 50.86, respectively.
The freshmen shined in the pool as Luka Mladenovic made his Michigan debut and won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 53.53, while Antoine Sauve took the victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:29.16.
Ben Shitrit collected his second win of the meet with a time of 1:37.47 in the 200-yard freestyle to start his senior season in style.
In addition to the traditional events, Michigan also competed in a few fun events, including the 50-yard underwater with fins and the 25-yard mystery races.
In diving, freshman Emmitt Reesor swept the springboard events in his debut as a Wolverine, posting scores of 322.43 and 390.30 in the one-meter and three-meter dive, respectively.
Michigan will start the dual-meet portion of its season on Oct. 10, when it travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame and Wisconsin.
