ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving program joined Calvin, Hope and Purdue in honoring the late Ian Miskelley to open the 2025-26 season, hosting the TEAM BE BETTER; Invitational on Friday (Sept. 26) at Canham Natatorium.
Hannah Bellard picked up where she left off last season, winning the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.92 seconds. Newcomer Cecilia Howard took the win in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a 1:03.63.
Lexi Greenhawt outlasted the field in the 50-yard freestyle, logging a first-place time of 22.87. Rebecca Diaconescu won the distance freestyle event, registering a 500-yard time of 4:54.88.
Letitia Sim took first in the 100-yard IM with a time of 55.54, while Bellard secured the top place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.02.
In addition to the traditional events, Michigan also competed in a few fun events, including the 50-yard underwater with fins and the 25-yard mystery races.
In diving, freshman Aoi Kondo swept both the one-meter and three-meter dives. He tallied a score of 269.40 in the one-meter event and a mark of 290.25 in the three-meter dive.
Up next, Michigan will open dual-meet competition with a trip to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame and Wisconsin on Oct. 10.
