Ann Arbor, Mich. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team defeated Denison University, 202-87, Saturday afternoon (Jan. 31) at Canham Natatorium.
Three Michigan squads placed in the top three spots to open the dual meet in the 400-yard medley, led by Milla Drakopouios, Letitia Sim, Brady Kendalland Ella Jo Piersma, with a time of 3:30.55.
Stephanie Balduccini and Marian Ploger took the top two places in the 1000-yard freestyle, both more than 20 seconds ahead of their closest opponent.
Hannah Bellard beat the nationals qualifying time in the 200-yard freestyle. She needed a 1:45.53 and finished with a 1:43.83.
Leila Fack was the only competitor to swim the 200-yard butterfly in sub-2:00, with a time of 1:55.99.
Kendall opened the second half with another nationals-qualifying time, swimming a 48.07 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Bella Sims dominated the 200-yard backstroke and won by a full four seconds with a time of 1:51.46. She was one of two finishers in under two minutes.
Sim had a near 10-second victory in the 200-yard breaststroke. She clocked a time of 2:08.13, the next fastest swimmer clocking a 2:17.94.
Two 200-yard freestyle Wolverine relay teams finished within six hundredths of each other to conclude the women's side of the dual.
Next up, U-M will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., for the Big Ten Championships, held from Feb. 18-21.
