INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan wrestling team's six qualifiers earned their seeds for the NCAA Championships, including three in the top 10 in their respective weight classes, the NCAA announced, along with full brackets, on Wednesday evening (March 11).
Graduate student Taye Ghadiali was the Wolverines' highest seed with the No. 3 spot at heavyweight. Ghadiali, a 2024 NCAA All-American while at Campbell University, leads U-M with a 23-2 record this season and captured the Big Ten heavyweight crown after reversing one of his two losses on the season with a 5-3 comeback win against Nebraska's A.J. Ferrari. Ghadiali will face Utah Valley's Jack Forbes in the first round.
Redshirt freshman Brock Mantanona earned the No. 5 seed for his NCAA Championships debut at 184 pounds. Mantanona is coming off a third-place finish at the Big Ten Championships and is 19-6 on the season. He will face Stanford's Abraham Wojcikiewicz in the first round.
Redshirt sophomore Beau Mantanona is the No. 9 seed at 174 pounds. Now a two-time NCAA qualifier, Mantanona came up just short of All-America honors at last season's championships after falling in overtime in the 165-pound bloodround. He is 21-7 this season and claimed fourth place at the Big Ten Championships. He will wrestle Ohio's Garrett Thompson in the first round.
Graduate student Lachlan McNeil, a three-time NCAA All-American at North Carolina and now a four-time qualifier, is the No. 11 seed at 149 pounds after placing third at the Big Ten Championships. McNeil, who placed fifth at NCAAs last season, fourth in 2024 and sixth in 2023, is 17-6 on the season and will wrestle Princeton's Eligh Rivera in the first round.
Redshirt freshman Cameron Catrabone will be the No. 15 seed for his NCAA Championships debut at 157 pounds. Catrabone is 18-8 on the season and placed fourth last weekend at the Big Ten Championships, where his only losses came against the nation's top-ranked wrestler in Ohio State's Brandon Cannon and defending NCAA champion Antrell Taylor from Nebraska. He will wrestle George Mason's DJ McGee in the first round.
Graduate student Diego Sotelo rounds out Michigan's qualifiers with the No. 20 seed at 125 pounds. Previously a 2024 NCAA qualifier while at Harvard, Sotelo is 13-12 on the season and took sixth at last weekend's Big Ten Championships. He will wrestle Iowa State's Stevo Poulin in the first round.
The 2026 NCAA Championships are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, March 19-21, at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
