
Draper Inks Two-Year Contract with Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- University of Michigan ice senior Kienan Draper has signed with the Grand Rapids Griffins, agreeing to an amateur tryout (ATO) for the remainder of the 2025-26 season and a two-year American Hockey League contract beginning in 2026-27.
Grand Rapids serves as the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, the organization that selected Draper in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Draper completed a four-year career with the Wolverines, helping lead Michigan to three Frozen Four appearances and three Big Ten Tournament championships. He appeared in 133 career games, totaling 17 goals and 23 assists -- while posting a +21 rating and recording more than 100 blocked shots.
Serving as an alternate captain during the 2025-26 season, Draper played in all 40 games and recorded 18 points. He also netted game-winning goals against Ohio State (Nov. 22) and Notre Dame (Jan. 9).
