
Oral, Steiglehner Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Mert Oral and Nicholas Steiglehner of the University of Michigan men's tennis team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the 2025-26 season, the organization announced Tuesday (May 12). To earn the award, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50.
Oral recently graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering. This season, Oral received his first ITA national singles ranking, checking in at No. 123 at the close of the fall season. He posted a 16-15 singles record, going 7-8 in the fall and 9-7 in dual play. During the spring, he had a career-long seven-match win streak and clinched Michigan's win over Tennessee on Feb. 8. In doubles, Oral had two wins over ranked doubles pairs with partner Steiglehner.
Steiglehner earned a degree from the Ross School of Business this spring. He had a five-match win streak during the dual season and clinched three matches for Michigan. He earned his first career ITA doubles ranking, checking in at No. 25 with partner Bjorn Swenson in the fall as the pair started fall play on a five-match win streak. Steiglehner added three wins over ranked pairs in the spring.
Oral advances to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced on Wednesday, June 3.
