
Dahlin Named ITA National Rookie of the Year

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – University of Michigan men's tennis freshman Max Dahlin was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Rookie of the Year, the association announced Tuesday (June 9).
The Karlstad, Sweden, native continues to add to an impressive list of accolades after becoming the first player in Big Ten history to earn both Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in the same season. Dahlin also earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles and was a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection. He finished his freshman campaign with the nation's longest active winning streak at 18 matches.
Dahlin climbed as high as No. 6 in the national singles rankings and posted a 29-3 overall record, including a 20-1 mark at No. 1 singles and a perfect 11-0 record in Big Ten play. He went 13-2 against ranked opponents, highlighted by a victory over the nation's No. 3-ranked player. During the fall season, Dahlin reached the NCAA Singles quarterfinals, winning nine consecutive matches to finish with a 9-1 record. He also compiled a perfect 12-0 record in tiebreaks.
In doubles, Dahlin finished 17-7 overall, including a 10-6 record at No. 1 doubles and a 6-4 mark against ranked teams. Alongside partner Bjorn Swenson, he rose to No. 7 in the national doubles rankings and advanced to the NCAA Doubles quarterfinals in the fall.
Dahlin is the second Wolverine to earn national Rookie of the Year honors, joining Andrew Fenty (2019).
