ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan field hockey program announced its schedule for the upcoming 2026 season on Tuesday (June 3), featuring a challenging 16-game regular-season slate, including eight home games at Phyllis Ocker Field.
Michigan will face five teams that participated in last season's NCAA Tournament, including two Final Four participants in North Carolina and NCAA champion Northwestern.
Michigan will once again open the season at the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge from Aug. 28-30, facing North Carolina and host Wake Forest at Kenter Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. Now in its 24th season, the ACC/Big Ten Challenge is the premier early-season field hockey tournament on the collegiate slate. All four participating schools -- U-M, Iowa, North Carolina and Wake Forest -- have combined to win 55 conference titles and 27 national championships.
The Wolverines will kick off their home slate against Kent State (Sept. 4) and Vermont (Sept. 6) as part of Alumni Weekend. Vermont is led by head coach and UMFH alum Kate [Dillon] Pfeifer (2001-04). Michigan will also host non-conference games against California (Sept. 11) and Monmouth (Oct. 11) at Ocker Field.
Michigan will begin Big Ten Conference play on the road at Michigan State on Friday, Sept. 18, before returning home to host Iowa (Oct. 2), Northwestern (Oct. 4) and Maryland (Oct. 9) before wrapping the regular season at home against rival Ohio State for Senior Day on Friday, Oct. 30.
Admission at Ocker Field is free for all regular-season home games.
Ohio State will host the Big Ten Tournament, Nov. 5-8, in Columbus, Ohio. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament are slated for Nov. 13-15 at campus sites, while the NCAA semifinals and champion game will be held Nov. 20-22 in Louisville, Ky.
