ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Coming off the program's second national championship and one of the most memorable seasons in school history, the University of Michigan men's basketball team announced Tuesday (June 2) that the Wolverines will face UConn in a national championship game rematch as part of the TNT Sports Hall of Fame Series Boston at TD Garden on Friday, Nov. 6, in Boston, Mass.
Announced by Position Sports in partnership with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the matchup marks Michigan's first regular-season meeting with the Huskies since 2015.
"What an exciting opportunity to face Coach Hurley and UConn again," said U-M's David and Meredith Kaplan Men's Basketball Head Coach Dusty May. "It's also a game our fans will really look forward to. Anytime you get two programs like this together that early in the season, it's going to be a great test and a great atmosphere. Playing in Boston should make it even more fun for our players and everyone traveling out to support us."
The Wolverines and Huskies closed the 2025-26 season in one of the most-watched games of the year, with Michigan capturing the national title behind a 69-62 win in Indianapolis to even the all-time series at 2-2.
Despite six three-pointers and 20 points from Stu Douglass, U-M dropped the first meeting in the series, falling to No. 1 UConn 69-61 at Gampel Pavilion on Feb. 7, 2009. The Wolverines answered the following season with a 68-63 win at Crisler Center on Jan. 17, 2010, behind Manny Harris' 18 points and eight rebounds, along with three more three-pointers from Douglass, who finished with 13 points. Five years later, the Huskies earned a 74-60 victory at the 2015 Battle 4 Atlantis before Michigan tied the series with its national championship victory.
The TNT Sports Hall of Fame Series returns to Boston following last season's matchup between UConn and BYU at TD Garden -- an 86-84Â win by the Huskies over the seventh-ranked Cougars. The annual series features many of the nation's top programs competing in premier venues across the country.
Broadcast information, game time, credential details and ticket on-sale information will be announced at a later date. Fans can visit the TNT Sports Hall of Fame Series Boston website for event updates and additional information.
