Five Wolverines Compete on Day One at U23 World Championships

DUISBURG, Germany -- The University of Michigan rowing program will be represented by five student-athletes at the 2026 World Rowing Under-23 Championships, which will take place Thursday through Sunday (July 23-26) at the Duisburg Regatta Course.
Danelia Price-Hughes and Sinéad Erasmus are competing for South Africa in the 4-. Price-Hughes competed in the 2025 Championships, finishing second in the single scull B finals. In 2023, Erasmus represented RSA in the Under-19 World Rowing Championships in the quad scull event.
Rising sophomores Novella Rusman and Lucy Hallett, alongside recent graduate Madeleine Lauriault, compete together for Team Canada in the 8+. Lauriault has previous experience representing Canada in this event as part of the 8+ in 2024.
Thursday, July 23
BW4- (women's four): Erasmus and Price-Hughes, rowing out of the bow and third seat for South Africa, respectively, placed first in their heat with a time of 7:12.28 and qualified for Friday's Semifinals.
BW8+ (women's eight): Rusman, Lauriault and Hallett, in Canada's bow, sixth, and seventh seats, placed fifth in their heat (6:46.14) and will compete in Sunday's A Finals.
