CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team began fall tournament action this weekend (Sept. 11-13), competing at the Kitty Harrison Invitational at the Chewning Tennis Center.
Michigan sent a quartet of Wolverines to the three-day event in Piper Charney, Reese Miller, Gabriella Lindgren and Emily Sartz-Lunde.
Lindgren highlighted Michigan on the singles court, winning all three matches to take the Heel Flight. She dropped just one set across her three matches, starting her sophomore season with a 3-0 record.
The remaining three Wolverines each won at least one match, with Miller reaching the final of the White Flight before falling to No. 112 Shannon Lam of Virginia.
Charney and Miller, ranked No. 41 to begin the season, picked up a 6-3 win over No. 19-ranked Aysegul Mert and Deniz Dilek of Georgia to headline the doubles action.
Michigan continues fall action next week, with Miller, Charney and Sartz-Lunde heading back to the Tar Heel State to compete in the ITA All-American Championships, set for Sept. 21-27 at Cary Tennis Park.
