Wolverines Finish Third at Inaugural College Swimming League Meet

» Lorne Wigginton led the Michigan men with three individual victories, sweeping the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle.
» Hannah Bellard and Bella Sims each earned an individual victory and a runner-up finish, while Colin Geer and Antoine Sauve added wins for the Wolverines.
» Michigan's women's Super Skins quartet of Sims, Sarah Pasquella, Leila Fack and Lexi Greenhawt advanced through all four rounds to finish second in the final.

WESTMONT, Ill. -- The University of Michigan swimming team finished third with 420.5 points on Thursday (Sept. 24) at the inaugural College Swimming League (CSL) event at FMC Natatorium. The four-team CSL format combines men's and women's results into one team score and features traditional events along with elimination-style Skins and Super Skins races.
Senior Hannah Bellard won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:36.54 and added a runner-up finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:53.53).
Michigan's Big Ten Male Swimmer to Watch Lorne Wigginton led the Michigan men with three victories, taking first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:15.58), 200-yard butterfly (1:43.48) and 200-yard freestyle (1:34.36).
Bella Sims won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:54.82 and placed second in the 100-yard individual medley (52.69).
U-M added two more victories as Colin Geer won the men's 100-yard individual medley (47.08) and Antoine Sauve captured the 100-yard freestyle (42.97).
Lexi Greenhawt took second in the 100-yard backstroke (51.04), while Ryan Healy earned runner-up honors in the men's 200-yard individual medley (1:45.24).
The Wolverines closed the meet with their women's Super Skins quartet of Sims, Sarah Pasquella, Leila Fack and Greenhawt advancing through all four rounds and finishing second in the final. The CSL Super Skins format begins with eight 200-yard medley relay teams, with teams eliminated over four rounds until two remain in the final.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will both be back in action on Friday (Sept. 25) inside Canham Natatorium for the TEAM BE BETTER; Invitational featuring Hope and Calvin. The event will begin at 3 p.m. and stream live on B1G+.
