• Save the Date: The race day for the 2026 Big House 5K will be announced on December 15, 2025.
• Registration Opens: Registration for the 2026 Big House 5K will open on January 15, 2026.
The Big House 5K, owned and operated by the Michigan Athletic Department, has a mission of raising funds and awareness for local non-profit beneficiaries. The race begins on State Street, courses through the University of Michigan’s central campus, and then finishes on the 50-yard line of Michigan Stadium.
In 2025, we sold out of 12,500 race entries and raised $215,000 for our six local, non-profit beneficiaries. We are excited to partner with six local beneficiaries this year to provide a platform on which they can raise awareness and funds in support of their cause.

Race Pricing
The first 5,000 race entries will be $28 ($20 for stroller registrations). Then, the price increases to $38 until the race sells out.
Things to Know:
- Children ages 5 & younger are $20 regardless of price window. These stroller entries DO NOT include a race shirt, but include all of the other race benefits.
- There is a hard cap of 12,500 participants; if the event sells out before April 9, 2025, there will be no additional registration made available.
- Full race entries include:
- Providing a minimum $12 donation to six race beneficiaries
- Race bib with chip for on-course timing
- Tech T-shirt (stroller entries DO NOT include a race shirt)
- Commemorative finishers medal
- Complimentary on-course race photos
- Eligibility for overall & age group prizes
