Donation and Autograph Requests
The University of Michigan Athletic Department is fortunate to be able to donate numerous items to non-profit organizations throughout the community each year. However, due to high demand and NCAA rules, U-M Athletics is not able to support every worthwhile cause.
In an effort to best process your request and support as many charities as possible, requests must comply with the guidelines listed below. Please understand that submission of a request, even if all guidelines are met, does not guarantee that the request will be fulfilled.Â
Each organization may only request one item per calendar year.
Donation and Autograph Guidelines
• U-M Athletics will consider donating head coach-autographed items and certificates (as available) for charitable endeavors. We do not offer tickets as a charitable donation.
• As a result of time constraints and NCAA Compliance regulations, requests for head coach autographed items for personal endeavors (birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, weddings, etc.) will not be accommodated.
• U-M Athletics will not accommodate requests for student-athlete autographs. Since the NCAA adopted name, image and likeness (NIL) rules in July 2021, you can contact student-athletes directly for autographs, appearances, and other paid marketing opportunities through the VICTORS Exchange.
• U-M Athletics does not accept pre-purchased items from organizations for signing. Instead, we manage an inventory of items and gift certificates. As a non-profit auxiliary unit of the University, U-M Athletics charges to cover the cost of these items along with processing and shipping (a fee of $100). The University is not responsible for items shipped or mailed to the Athletic Department.
• Pursuant to NCAA compliance regulations, U-M Athletics cannot donate items to any entity that serves prospect-aged individuals (grades 9–12; grades 7–12 for softball and volleyball; grades 8–12 for men’s basketball), including:
   • High schools
   • High school scholarship funds
   • Booster clubs
   • Clubs or sports teams for high school students
   • Individual high school students
• All donation requests must be submitted through the online donation request system at least six weeks before the event date listed in your request.
• To expedite the review process, include detailed information about your organization and event, such as:
   • The organization’s 501(c)(3) number (if applicable)
   • Relevant documents pertaining to your event or organization
   • Ages and grades of minors benefiting from the funds raised
• Incomplete requests will not be considered.
• To assist as many organizations as possible, each organization is eligible to receive only one donated item per event and one donated item per calendar year.
• Priority will be given to organizations within the state of Michigan.
Though we congratulate your efforts, we're unable to support individual fundraising pursuits for non-profit races or events. Instead, we choose to directly support the local chapter of many of these non-profit organizations.
