About the Michigan Dance Team
The University of Michigan Dance Team is defined both by its athletic achievement as well as its academic excellence: the tenacity of our members is exemplified in all aspects of their lives, whether it be on the nationals floor, the football field, or within the classroom. Our team is built on the pillars of trust, family, and hard work, as the Michigan Dance Team encourages a holistic approach to the college experience of its members. Coming from a variety of majors and programs, our dancers not only excel within the context of the team, but pursue their own academic passions during their time at the best university in the world.
Our goal each year is to expand our knowledge and encourage growth, not only as dancers and student-athletes, but also as people. Our team is made up of 27 unique personalities and talents, all of which work together to create a single, cohesive image. We value the individuality of our dancers, as each member is an essential asset to our program.Â
Each year, our team represents the University of Michigan at the Universal Dance Association's College Dance Team Nationals in Orlando, Florida. We present routines in the D1A Jazz and Hip Hop categories, competing alongside the best dance teams in the nation. Our team devotes a large portion of the season to the growth of the routines that we put on the nationals floor, as our goal is to continue building off of the program's past successes. Our dancers and coaches do not take one practice for granted and are consistently working to represent the block M with pride as we compete on the nationals floor in January.Â
Throughout the academic school year, the Michigan Dance Team promotes the spirit of the university through its performances at a variety of campus events, such as football, women's basketball, men's basketball, and volleyball games. As representatives of the University of Michigan, our dancers embody the collegiate image with an unmatched pride for their school.
