In recognition of signing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 of the Civil Rights Act on June 23, 1972 by President Richard Nixon, Michigan Athletics is celebrating "50 Years of Title IX." Beginning June 23, 2021, through June 2022, the department will celebrate advancements and individuals who have gotten us to this point, while acknowledging what still remains to be done. "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
