In the Words of the Muhammad Family (Stacey, Frank and Kevin) …
As parents, it has been an absolute pleasure to watch Mustapha grow from a young boy to a young man! He has always been very outgoing and confident, yet humble, so making friends has never been difficult for him. He is often sought after by peers for advice and is a natural born leader. He has also been a great student, with an above-average GPA throughout high school, never shying away from AP or Honors classes each year. He was named to the 1st Team Academic All-District team for his senior year.
As far as sports are concerned, Mustapha possesses a rare combination of natural, God- given ability and athleticism coupled with self-motivation and persistence. This has served him well on the football field. As an athlete, he has been described as a pleasure to coach and has been a varsity player for 3 years on his high school football team. He was the first junior to ever be selected a team captain. He has been honored to be selected as a player in the 2018 Under Armour All- American Game as well as the Polynesian Bowl All- American Game. He has consistently been ranked as one of the ESPN Top 300, and one of the top 3 Tight Ends in the Class of 2018, and was heavily sought after by over 35 Division I college and universities. He was recently selected as the Offensive Player of the Year by the Houston Touchdown Club!
We are often sought out by coaches, teachers, and even parents of his friends with a common message- our son is very respectful, articulate, pleasant, and a joy to be around. He is one of the most popular boys in his senior class, and was even chosen as 'Most Likely to be A Professional Athlete'. We have raised him to have high aspirations, and we believe he has what it takes to be a success on and off the field. He has never been afraid to think outside the box and follow his own path. His name 'Mustapha' actually means "The Chosen One, or The Selected" and he truly is a reflection of that.
He plans to be a Business major and not only earn his Bachelor's degree but also his Master's degree from the Ross School of Business. We are so very proud of Mustapha, and truly excited that he will be continuing his education and football career at the University of Michigan. Go Blue!
In the Words of Muhammad...
• "Michigan is a very different, special place for me. It is the closest thing I can think of to a perfect fit. The environment, family vibe, coaching staff, pro-style system, connection for post grad, NFL pipeline, nearby mosques and very large Muslim population in the surrounding areas of Michigan, the culture, the fans -- the team, the team, the team -- are all reasons I am a Wolverine." - Muhammad on Michigan
