Ryan is an introspective, humble and soft-spoken young man, who is a strong competitor and does not like to lose. Ryan has enjoyed participating in football, baseball, and basketball throughout his middle and high school years. Ryan has embraced being a three-sport athlete. He has enjoyed moving from one sport to the next each season. Ryan attends a large high school, so each sport offered a new opportunity for teammates, coaches and friendships.
Ryan is a quiet leader, not demonstrative or loud, but does bring passion and energy to his football game. He does not invite attention to himself, other than on the field or court, due to his size and competitiveness. Ryan is more concerned with the strength and success of his team rather than any individual accolades he may receive.
Ryan comes from a supportive and loving family and recognizes that life is about relationships and the people with whom he surrounds himself. He develops strong and deep friendships with classmates and teammates. He is a kind, loyal and committed person.
Growing up in Northern Michigan, Ryan is very attracted to the beauty and lure of the Great Lakes, having spent much time on the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. He has spent countless hours swimming and fishing in the rivers and small lakes of Michigan and Canada.
Ryan is a strong student. He has dreams and goals of pursing a first class education and earning a degree that will afford him many opportunities in life beyond college. He is eager to pair this educational experience with a successful football career and an opportunity to win a national championship.
Ryan is enthusiastically anticipating his enrollment at the University of Michigan to pursue his goals of being a successful student and contributing member of his team. He is ready for this next challenge and looks forward to exciting and new experiences. Ryan is prepared for the challenge of the hard work, dedication and sacrifice this type of success will demand.
In the Words of His Coach...
• "He's a good worker, extremely high character, good student and he's extremely humble. When you have a kid like that and they make a decision like this, you are just extremely happy for the kid and the university." - High School Head Coach Tim Wooer
• "Ryan is a three-sport athlete. He is the No. 1 pitcher on our baseball team throwing 85-88. He is a 15 (point) and 10 (rebound) guy in basketball. He is just a great athlete. From a strength standpoint once he decides to just focus on just one sport his ceiling is going to be through the roof. He is just an incredible talent." - High School Head Coach Tim Wooer
