Boeger, who assists Heneberry with the defensive side of the field, helped Erin O'Grady repeat as the Big Ten Goalie of the Year, breaking the Michigan career wins record with 25. The Massapequa, N.Y., native is the third goalie in program history with more than 300 saves, ending her career with 351 to rank third all-time in Michigan annals. She ranked second nationally and led the Big Ten with a .534 save percentage under Heneberry and Boerger's tutelage.
Along with Heneberry, Boerger helped coach a defensive cohort that led the nation in scoring defense for the entirety of the 2024 season, ending the year allowing just 7.55 goals per game. Individually, Erin O'Grady was named U-M's first-ever IWLCA Goalie of the Year and Big Ten Goalie of the Year, while earning National Defensive Player of the Week honors and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors on three occasions. The junior goalie also was an IWLCA, Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine first team All-America honoree and an all-region selection. Furthermore, senior Maddie Burns broke the U-M career ground-ball record with her 101st pickup against Northwestern on April 21 as she closed out her career with 111 ground balls. She was the first Big Ten Defender of the Year for U-M, an IWLCA first team All-American and also earned Inside Lacrosse All-America honors as well as first team all-region honors.
Prior to Michigan, Boerger was the associate head coach at Grand Valley State for five seasons where she served as the defensive coordinator that ranked 15th nationally in the 2023 season in scoring defense, allowing less than 10 goals in a game. The Lakers ended the year ranked fifth nationally after winning their first Midwest Regional Championship and making their first-ever NCAA semifinal. In her first season with the Lakers, Boerger’s backline ranked second in the GLIAC in goals against average and reached the GLAIC Tournament Championship. Additionally, she coached 44 All-GLIAC honorees, 24 IWLCA All-Region honorees and two IWLCA Defensive All-Americans in her five seasons with the program.
Prior to her time at Grand Valley State, Boerger spent two seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne where she helped lead the team to its first-ever South Atlantic Conference regular season championship.
Boerger’s other collegiate coaching experience include stints at Findlay and Ohio State. At Findlay, Boerger helped the Oilers to the most wins in school history as her defense had the fewest shots on goal allowed in program history and the fewest goals allowed. During her time at Ohio State, the Buckeyes made a NCAA Tournament appearance after making it to the Big Ten Tournament finals.
In 2020, Boerger was hired as the head coach of the Swiss Women’s National Team, after serving as the associate head coach in 2018, and is prepping the team for the 2022 World Championships. At the club level, Boerger has coached for REV Lacrosse, AC Lacrosse Club, Major Force Lacrosse and MLXA.
