Bilal Hussein joined the Michigan women's soccer coaching staff in 2017 and entered a new role as the director of soccer analytics for the 2018 campaign before coming the volunteer assistant coach for the 2020 campaign. The 2020 season will mark Hussein's fourth year with the team.
Hussein was also involved at the club level as the Director of Coaching and head coach of the U-14 girls and boys and U-9 boys with the Ann Arbor United Soccer Club for the 2017-18 season.
Prior to joining Ann Arbor United's staff, Hussein was involved with the Michigan Tigers Football Club from for five seasons between 2009 and 2016, serving as the boys head coach at various levels from U-9 to U-17. He also held stints with CW3 (2007-09) and the Huron Valley Soccer Club (2003-07).
Before emerging on the club scene, Hussein was the men's soccer head coach at the University of Michigan Dearborn during the 2003-04 season. Hussein earned his MBA from Davenport University in Michigan in 2005.
A native of Lebanon, Hussein attended the University of Lebanon from 1996-2000, where he was a four-year member of the men's soccer team and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration in 2000. While he was a student, he joined the Lebanese Army in 1997 to serve his one year mandatory service. He spent his time in the service playing soccer for the Lebanese Army Rangers and helped them to claim the Lebanese Army National Cup in 1997. He then went on to compete for the Lebanese Army National Team for a short period of time before finishing his service in 1998.
When he moved to the United States, Hussein continued his playing career playing for Michigan Athletic FC (2006-07), the Dearborn Stars (2007-09, 2011-13), Michigan Sporting FC (2009-10, 2013) and the Lebanese Consulate Team (2011-13), all within the State of Michigan.
Throughout the years, Hussein has worked tirelessly to earn several USSF coaching licenses, including his USSF "A-Senior" License in 2017, becoming the first person in Michigan and the United States to receive that license.
