Clark comes to Ann Arbor after two seasons as the assistant coach at Harvard where he coached the Women's and Men's teams.
In his first season with the U-M program, Clark helped the team to a 7-22 record and a 5-15 conference record. The Wolverines won four of their last nine matches including a win over Ohio State. In his second season as head coach, Virute coached the team to a 18-13 record and a 8-12 conference record. U-M finished 10th in the Big Ten and two Wolverines earned Big Ten honors including Allison Jacobs earning first team honors.Â
Clark has also served as an Assistant Coach with the National Team Development Program since May of 2022. Prior to Harvard, Clark spent two years as the volunteer assistant coach at the University of California, Santa Barbara with previous stops at Clarke University, the University of West Alabama, Pfeiffer University and Siena Height University. As a coach over the years, Clark has compiled an overall record of 205-222.
During his time with the Crimson, Clark coached both the men's and women's team for two seasons. Both teams won the Academic Team award across all four seasons with four women earning All-Ivy Honorable Mentions. Clark coached both sides of the ball over his time with the Crimson working on attack with the women and defense with the men mainly. Clark entered Division 1 Volleyball in May of 2019 when he joined the University of California, Santa Barbara. Clark helped the Gauchos to a 23-6 record and a third place finish in the Big West.
Clark served as Head Men's Volleyball at Clarke University for four years where he also earned his master's degree in leadership. With Clarke University, Clark compiled a 62-51 record overall and 22-16 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the NAIA. Clark's teams were ranked as high as #3 and consistently ranked in the Top 15 nationally in statistical categories.
Prior to Clarke University, Clark spent five years as an assistant coach with three different schools. He started with Siena Heights and served as an assistant for the men's and women's programs for a year and a half. He also served at Pfeiffer University coaching both genders. At the Division II level, Clark coached for two years (2013-15) at West Alabama and was responsible for offensive schemes and setter training.
Clark graduated from Eastern Michigan in 2010 with a dual major in Secondary Education and Social Studies with a minor in History. While at Eastern, Clark founded the Men's Club Program and served as president, coach and was an outside hitter with the team.
A native of Carleton, Mich., Nick lives with his husband, Rob, and their dog, Astrid.
